Called the number back. They answered without identifying the company but asked to direct the call.
When I asked who the company was, they said it is the Visa/Mastercard Merchant Division.
However, a google search didn't turn up any results for the number.

Called me once, hung up. Call it back from my caller ID and their voice mail says the guys name is "Louis" and there's lots of telemarketing noise in the background, with lots of crowd noise too.
Usually a call to joining phone numbers reveals a block of phone numbers for telemarketers whose phone network is within the block of numbers so dialing zero would get a receptionist. Not this time!
This phone number does have related numbers but not in a network. Each number related to it within one number off is a telemarketer. I got the name of their company, as "DW Scott" whatever that is.
I suspect that their company name is relative to the last message in this thread, that they are selling merchant services - and usually those services lead to a problem. I need to give a caveat emptor which is latin for "buyer bewary" and is a business term we learned in business and finance schools.
DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY UNLESS YOU WANT A YEAR OF PROBLEMS.
That is my warning. If someone has a rebuttal to this message, I won't see it. I won't return to it. Bye!
