This guy called me about an Us Weekly magazine subscription, which I do have, and was trying to get me to renew. The strange thing is that Us Weekly does not have my home phone number. I never gave it to them. This lets me know that something is not quite right with the phone call. I wonder how they got my number and knew me by name? It showed up on my caller ID as :
Cell Phone AZ
480-435-9650
Surely no decent magazine company is going to use a cell phone to call its customers. I think I am going to alert Us Weekly about this.
I got a call from this number Friday night, and the girl claimed to be calling from Playboy Magazine and they could give me a cheaper price on my renewal. I DO have a subscription, but I just renewed. Since I spend my spare time being a scam baiter (I bait scammers and waste their time).
Anyway--I played along and I was put on with her "supervisor" who needed my credit card number and social security number. Needless to say I hung up upon hearing that.
