Bob -
I couldn't agree more. GE Money Bank has the most antiquated revenue recovery system on this planet. You'd think by now that they would facilitate online payments. Instead they would prefer to direct their expenses toward harrasing their customers via phone calls (reminders) rather than invest their monetary resources into a much more effecient and I would assume profitable infrastructure.
I just received a call from this number and it immediately said "we are in the process of connecting the call". I hung up thinking it was some scam and immediately called it back after finding this string of post and finding out that Bob said it was GE Money Bank. When I called back a person picked up and i gave them my acct. #, name and address and they said my last bill was late from the previous Friday. I told them that I mailed the payment out on that Friday because that was the day I got paid and they should be receiving the check today or tomorrow. The person said they would put a note on my acct and the amount that I sent. 2 minutes later they called back, a different person trying to harass me. I immediately stopped them and told them what I just told the other person and they said they would note my acct and put a 10 day hold on it and that if they receive the payment within that time frame that I would not hear back from them and if they didn't they would be contacting me again.
They've called me 11 times today- they ask for someone named Tammy. I am not Tammy and they keep telling me they're going to remove my number and they won't. They also won't tell me the company name when I ask!
Once your number gets in the auto dialer (it's just a collection of phone numbers) it's hard to get someone to remove you. As far as I can tell, there is only one person who is responsible for removing a number and the computer. If you pay your bill the computer removes your number, if they have the wrong number, only the one guy can remove your number, and he's perpetually not there.
