We wanted to respond to this post in order to clear up some obvious confusion. The call referenced in this post is from eLocalPlumbers.com, one of the top online directories owned by eLocal USA LLC. The characterization of the call however is completely inaccurate. We regularly make calls to plumbers who have a FREE listing in our directory informing them of their ability to update their profiles and add a link to their website, also for FREE. This is not a scam of any sort and we do not attempt to sell anything with this call. We have never made any promises about ranking individual businesses on the first page of Google as we do not offer such a service. We are simply an online directory! There are certainly companies that make such claims, but we are not one of them. Our Plumbers Directory ranks #1 organically on a Google search for "plumbers" and that is all we state. The greater source of confusion is the reference to complaints and the associated link provided. This post and all the others we have ever seen online refer to eLocalListings which is a completely unrelated organization that just happens to share a similar name. There are a number of sites that add "elocal" to their domain name that are not affiliated with us and we attempt to identify many of them in the About Us page of www.elocal.com.
As noted above, nothing about us or our service is a scam and we provide a valuable service to both plumbers and consumers. We also willingly and promptly will remove any plumber from our directory that does not want to be listed.
Got a call from 484-270-8185, caller ID read: "A K", google search of phone number: "A K, 32 Rock Hill Rd., Bala Cynwyd, PA." This MAY be the phone number of an innnocent party but,used by yet another scam company, elocal, in this case elocalplumbers.com left a message about all the wonderfull things they were going to do for me by getting our business to the top/first page of Google searches. This is at least the fourth scam business offering the same bogus service that I've received calls from over the past 3-4 weeks and it is too much of a coincidence. One other was Local Edge formerly The Talking Phone Book.
They have done a very good job of getting their own self serving BS info to come up at the top of Google searches of elocal. However, a search of 'elocal complaints' gives the true picture and much of it can be found at the link below along with links to ways to get your business to the first page of a Google search for FREE all by yourself.
