Today, I received yet another vehicle "Extended Warranty" scam call from this number. I've been getting these illegal calls (I'm on the DO NOT CALL REGISTER) from this number and others for years. I often play along to find out if any are legit and have found 100% of them to be scams.
This time "Karen" from Empire Consumer Services, Pomona, CA tried to get me to pay $3,167 for what she said was a one time opportunity to buy a great extended warranty from the company that does Ford's factory warranties (a lie). She tried to get me to pay for it without reading it. When I insisted on reading it first, she gave me the link to their website and contract. It took me 15 seconds to find two clauses in it that would allow them to deny any and all claims with impunity. Their promises of refunds if you cancel within 30 days are also scams because they are notorious for refusing to make refunds.
NEVER BUY ANYTHING FROM TELEMARKETERS. THEY ARE NEARLY ALWAYS SCAMS
I have received unsolicited calls from this phone number for 8 months. I have answered some and most I just don't answer. On the calls I do answer, I have asked numerous times to be removed from their call list. They even confirm that I will be taken off the list. Yet, the calls continue.
The caller asks if I've received their flier in the mail regarding the urgency to renew my vehicle's extended warranty. This is a scam to harras people and to prey on car owners who fear their cars are vulnerable.
I have tried to courteous to request off their list without luck. And I have tried to be rude as well. Neither approach works. I believe that legal action or at least BBB intervention will be effective to stop the solicitations.
Blocking the phone number works until they robo dial with another number. Then the cycle begins again.
