Out of curiosity I finally answered one of these. I got a recording saying to press 1 to hear who is calling. When I did so, I got ANOTHER recording saying the caller was "Pat Clark" and that he had "an important matter to discuss with you". My guess is that this is yet another debt collection agency calling people at random (I don't owe anyone anything) and using this "Privacy manager" gimmick to keep you from knowing who they are.
You have Privacy Manager on your phone service, this your phone company's phone number....you can answer the phone and will hear a recording of who the call is from and you will then have the choice of answering the call or ignoring it. It's a service provided by AT&T and other phone carriers for numbers which use the "private" setting for calls. They have to identify themselves to the phone company which id's them to you and gives you the choice of answering the phone or not.
