Called saying they were getting an error message from my computer, when i asked which computer they hung up. they called and"assisted" my wife last year and they proceeded to to systematically wipe her computer remotely.
They tried to convince me that there was something wrong with my computer. They said that the firewall had expired and my computer had viruses on it. They said they know my computer ID and they were sure it was sending out bad information. But they could fix all those problems if I let them take over my computer, install some software, make adjustments on my computer configuration, and send them some money, ($269). This is a scam.
same thing happened to me right now. A guy with an Indian accent called. "We are talking about your Windows computer" "What Windows computer?" "The one you have at home" "What the hell are you talking about dude, I'm a Mac person". They hung up. Hope thy didn't try a way to get my money somehow
Just called me 10 minutes ago and told me the same thing, Indian guy told me to turn no my computer and he "would help" with all the notices THEY were getting about MY computer. I feel bad for the older folks who would believe him. Shame on them.
