What have you tried? Only you have the power to cut the number of calls you are getting.
Some Things to Try:
- Don't answer calls with phone numbers or names that are unknown or suspicious. Always check your phones caller ID before answering.
- NEVER Return calls to unknown numbers or suspicious name. Your curiosity will only get you more calls.
- Crooks do not pay attention to the Do Not Call list. Don't bother telling crooks that you are on the DNC or that you demand calls are stopped. Crooks do not keep their own Do Not Call lists.
- Block unwanted calls with a call blocker. Some phone carriers offer limited call blocking for free, some home phones systems have call blocking built in. There are apps for smart phones. A stand-alone call blocker usually costs from $40 - $50.
- Be aware of how your phone number gets leaked to telemarketers and such. Not everyone who asks for your phone number really needs it.
- Sometimes keeping records that track the calls can help you know who is passing out your number.
Ignore and Block. Don't try to talk to reason with crooks. The longer you are disciplined in your phone habits, the fewer calls you will get. Seeing results can take a few weeks, but after 3-4 months you will see a drop in calls.
