I received the recording about an outstanding debt on my UPS account. Even had an invoice number and seems like it could be legit. The kicker is I have never sent or received any shipments from this account number. I created it 2 years ago, put my company name on it but never used it. No record of any activity in the last 90 day per the UPS website (max history available). Near as I can tell, someone hacked the UPS account numbers list and they target large companies hoping someone will pay an outstanding debt without research. Do not pay it !!!
(502) 485-2775 is the number for UPS International Brokerage Services. If you are getting calls from them, it's probably due to unpaid tariff or import duties for a shipment on your UPS account. I received a call from them a few minutes ago too, and that was the case. The tariff and duty charges you pay up front when you ship international packages are only UPS's best estimate. If the actual charges turn out to be higher, you still have to cough up the difference. Kinda sucks...but I understand their position.
Wanted to check if this is legit. That makes sense. I have had international shipments arrive in the past. Was a while ago though, and this is the first I've heard of it....
Got a call from them but didn't reply. They can't charge me a fee for a service I didn't ask for.
I could've released the package from customs myself and probaly not pay duties at all. Did they give me that option no? Instead they do it themselves and make up some random % to make me pay it. Well I don't think so. That's no legal.
