I received an automated message on my voice regarding an "alleged" debt owned to the IRS, but they did not leave a return phone number. Is this a scam?
I made a complaint to the FTC on the number 404-432-7660, who called me four times today at ten minute intervals. Answered on the fourth call, same story as the 502-949-8675, who actually called a couple of hours before the series of four calls from the 404 number.
Don't bother choosing the option to speak to an agent, you are put on hold and in the past when I actually spoke to someone and told them I was on the Do Not Call Registry, they just hung up on me. Don't even answer and go to FTC.gov and fill out the complaint form. While they won't fix it, it does go into a database for police and investigators. Enough complaints and maybe they will be busted.
Unlisted caller from (502) 949-8675 called my wife Barbara stating that they're attemting to collect a debt to the Internal Revenue Service. Very annoying and obviously a hoax.
This same "company" had called me several times a few days ago with the same message but totally different number. They called me again from this number as well! I feel it is not right that they can claim I have IRS debt...very anxiety provoking even though I know I have no debt. I too will make a complaint before they change their number..
