North American telephone area codes 503 and 971 serve the northwestern region of Oregon, including the Portland, Salem, and Astoria metropolitan areas.
Hilariously enough, this was a scam call telling me that my computer, which by the way is located at my office in a server room, was sending critical errors to him. I decided to play along for a few minutes just to see what information I could get from him. He said he was working for TX or maybe TS Tech Support, he had a heavy Indian(as in the country India) accent. I asked him the MAC address was that was supposedly sending him my "Critical Error" messages. I basically got an "Uhhh...." reply. So then I asked what external IP address was that was communicating with him. again, he gave me completely bogus information. We don't even own that block of IP addresses. Anyways, I told him to take his scam somewhere else. BEWARE Tech support calls from these people, they will install malware on your computer and charge you to fix it. I've dealt with them (or similar scam companies) before from End User computers.
Called - didn't answer. Glad I didn't! Last time I answered one of these computer scam calls I told him I didn't have a computer.... They have many numbers they call from - I've got about 4 different numbers blocked for this type of scam, and just added this one.
SCAM SCAM SCAM.... BEWARE EVERYONE!!! They just tried contacting me and I answered the phone trying to figure out who was calling from this number then sum guy in an Indian accent tells me the same thing about an error message from Microsoft being sent to them and that he could help me fix it if I were near my computer. I said how did you get this number its not registered with my computer and the service I use has another way to contact me. He didn't answer just kept basically repeating the same thing, Asking me if about my computer my sis grabs the phone and says what is your number I will call you back.... Then he just hung up? Guess he didn't like all the questions and got scared....
