I had a call from them, they left a message and said they were following up on a class action lawsuit related to payday loans and they had a name and said the person used to be at my number. They left another number to call 877-803-8698. The caller said she had been appointed by the BC Supreme Court and the Alberta Court of Queens Bench
I got the same message regarding the BC Supreme Court and Alberta Court of Queen's Bench. It sounds like a grand-daddy of a scam in the making. I won't even waste my time bothering to reply to this nonsense. A check of the number they called from indicated they dealt with data exchange, which should be enough to set off alarm bells that this "offer" isn't even remotely legitimate to be of anyone's benefit but their own.
I just received the same phone call with the same message from this number, and called the forwarding number (877-803-8698) left on my voicemail. Apparently, It is regarding the settlement of a class action lawsuit due to unfair/illegal lending practices from payday/cash advance loan operators in Alberta & British Columbia.
If you had made a payday or title loan from MoneyMart/Instaloans/TheCashStore/MOGO etc., between the dates specified, you may be entitled to a portion of the brokerage fees back by filing a claim.
While initially extremely suspicious, I was able to substantiate both this company and the Law Firm out of Vancouver handling the disbursement, by doing a little investigative work on the web.
