503-564-3023 - Guy telephoned me claiming he received my information from my request for information from Lending Tree Mortgage Services. I did request information from Lending Tree, but the more I talked to this guy the shadier he seemed. He asked me about my credit score then attempted to sell me a service to clear up my credit report - ranging in price from $200 - $800. When i caught on that he wasn't a bona fide lender, I tried to terminate the call, saying that I was not interested. He then became aggressive and rude. He didn't want to tell me the name of the company, only that they were a "trusted partner" of Lending Tree. Gave me what I believe after searching was a fake name, something like 800 Resources. The real company with that name is from the Philipines and doesn't have anything to do with credit repair. There's no need for anyone to hire a company to help them "fix" their credit. You can report discrepancies directly to the credit reporting agency.

Twice I've gotten a call from this number and the voice said something like, Please stay on the line while we connect you. The second time, I stayed on the line and was disconnected. I am guessing the number is fake because (1) my caller ID says out-of-area, although the number is within my calling area; and (2) 503-564-xxxx is from Rhododendron OR -- one of those areas from where you can get a free VoIP number.
