Rec'd. call 3/30/16, 2:13pm ET. Because it appeared to be from Louisiana and I have business contacts there, I answered. Following a delay, a recorded message saying "this is not a solicitation or telemarketing call", they said the call was intended for (my name), and if I am (my name), I should "Press 1". I pressed 1 (I know, duh). Then the message saying the "IRS" is filing a lawsuit against me........and I should "Press 2"....... I didn't go that far. It's likely one of the scams that get you to press digits and they're relayed to some off-shore number and opens the way for them to use your phone number to make long-distance calls. I think this falls under a "Scam" category but I don't see a fitting category here.

No, this is an IRS scam where they try to scare you into paying them money. There is no "scam" category because first and foremost it would leave this web site liable for damages, and second it would be abused by every poster.
\IRS Scam:
The IRS does not need to sue anyone. They send you first class letters delivered by the Post Office. Several of them. Ignore those, and they then send certified letters that you need to sign for. Again delivered by the Post Office. Ignore those and they simply freeze your bank accounts and anything else you own. If they can do that, then why would they bother with a court case that might take them years before they get in front of a judge? They also do not bother arresting people for a few thousand dollars for the same reasons I have already given.
