7:46 PM. Phone rang 50X. From Bell South, New Orleans, LA, identified as an unlisted landline from Kenner, LA (from a neighboring county). ID read "Loyola University". This is the second time this week that I have received such a dunning call from this number. I am very wary of phone calls from universities; they want you to make donations, by giving your credit card or similar ID over the phone. I did this once; of course I got a letter back from Loyola to verify that the donation had been made. In the meantime, I cancelled my debit card and had a new one set up.

The ugliest part of this is that the phone rang 50X. I did not think that Loyola University (from which I graduated) would be that brutal or inconsiderate. I am reporting this type of call to the University.

Footnote: I checked this number against listings for the real Loyola University, and gotten back the answer "no results". Someone is spoofing the Loyola ID. I have reported the number to [email protected], the FCC, and the FTC (all this wasted some 2 1/2 hours of my time), and hope that this will produce some results.

These bogus phone calls are getting out of hand!

Update: Loyola University wrote back: "Thank you very much for sending along this information. This call definitely did not come from Loyola University Maryland and you are not on any of our Loyola call lists. I have passed this information along to our Office of Technology Services to that they can look into the matter to ensure that our number hasn't been compromised."

I really do hope that Loyola can find out who is behind the bogus calls. If Loyola does, I hope they will take strong action against that person!

The calls are identified by White Pages as coming from Twtelecom. I've written a letter to Michael Nictakis, general manager for Louisiana, to inform him of the situation.

The calls are definitely not coming from Loyola University in New Orleans. The callers are using a whole series of numbers that start with 504-861: 5879/5839/5844/5845. That is a tip-off right there that something is "not Kosher".

I'm reporting everything again to the FCC and the FTC.

I have heard as of today from the Tw Telecom, which is the company that services Loyola University. I spoke to a representative, who as she went to pick up the call, knocked a glass of water all over her computer. So you can imagine that I feel kind of awful right now, adding injury to just wanting to find out the truth.

As I have it from Lisa P----, Loyola has just put in a new communications system with Tw to replace one with AT&T. The director of fund raising is looking into what is wrong with the dialing mechanism, and "donor dialing".

I sent off my original letters on November 15, 2012. What I am pleased about is that the company did get back in touch with me. They know me as the "Loyola Lady". Well, let us see what will transpire.
