I got a weird text from this number, I want to know who is behind this phone number

I got a text from this number.  The person said they got my name off of care.com.  They  were looking for a housekeeper.  I gave my info. to the person on e-mail.  They said they were sending money to cover housekeeping and artwork.  I told them I didn't want to participate in any artwork dealings.  Person sent a check for over $1800.00.
