Received a call on my mobile phone from 505-398-6950 on 9/22/2016 at 5:31pm EDT. Caller ID displayed "New Mexico".
Did not answer and the following automated message using a computer generated voice was left:
"Internal revenue services. The reason of this call is to inform you that IRS is filing lawsuit against you. To get more information about this case file, please call immediately on our department number 505-398-6950. I repeat 505-398-6950. Thank you."
Based on the message this is obviously a phishing scam to get personal information or extort money. Several posts on other sites claim that the caller tried to get them to supply Social Security numbers and birth dates and when questioned the caller hung up.
I have added this number to my Google Voice block list. If the same number calls again the caller will receive the not-in-service recording.
