Live person, after a brief pause. Wanted to know if I had any smoke detectors in my home. I shut them down by stating "I don't give out information about my residence or property over the phone." I'm on the national Do Not Call Registry. These folks are most likely scammers.
Like Tony, also got a live person with heavy accent; hard to understand. Started off asking if I had smoke detectors in my home, and if I check the battery every 6 months, then asked if I have security system in my home. Right after replying, I immediately regretted giving that info and felt extremely nervous. He asked if I have concerns about home break ins, and then asked for my first name. Definitely regret taking this call and not hanging up.
I received a call a few days ago from a man who had what I call a West Indian accent. He asked for my spouse and said that he had a UPS package that was supposed to be delievered that afternoon. I told him that "I told you (choice word) not to call here again; it is nothing but a scam. Unfortunately, we have been getting several people with heavy accents since last year claiming that we have won millions and cash or millions and a particular big car. The catch in those cases was to go to box store and get debit cards worth a few hundred dollars to process the win. You don't have to pay for processing anything that you have won.
