Heavy Indian accent, had to ask to repeat 3 times before I could make out Windows Maintenance. Since it was lunchtime and I was waiting for my soup to cool, I decided to do some public service by keeping him on the line and have some fun. I told him about the last windows I had installed in my house and how much warmer my house was. He said that it was about Windows on my computer, and I went into how neat it was that you could take a picture of your house and use the computer to show how your house would look with different types of windows. He hung up after 2-1/2 minutes, so I figured I prevented him from trying to scam 2 or 3 other people. Plymouth J Cliffords is my hero.
Lady with accent (with a LOT of call center background noise) said she was calling from the cancellation dept. of the online yellow pages. I explained that I was not authorized to confirm or deny anything and she said that she had talked to the owner and that he authorized the account closed because the price "was going up high" and she needed to send the paperwork in order to close the account. She then proceeded to start to read off our company name, etc - which I refused to confirm for her. This is a new and interesting twist in the "Online Yellow Pages" scams. I also think it is very interesting that these people are calling from what appears to be a local phone number for us. They are evolving.
Man with a heavy accent and tried 3 times to pronounce his "name" (Brian) . . . said he was from Microsoft and was getting error messages from our computer. I laughed at him and hung up.
Same thing happened to me--Man with a heavy accent said he was from Microsoft and was getting error messages from our computer--wanted me to log on so he could show me what was wrong with my computer--I hung up--Caller ID said it was out of area and showed no number--3 hours later got another call from this local number but no one said anything so I hung up and looked the number up and got this page. I'm guessing it's some type of scam!
