Got a call from this number @ 8:11 am on Mother's Day morning. I dont have a card with these people but they tell me I owe 1700.00. Unreal getting woken up on Sunday by an Indian 1/2 a world away demanding money I dont owe. I guess this is the "NEW" USA with Hope and Change in office.
Called twice, once in the morning once in the afternoon on Mothers Day, i missed both calls, when i called back it said it was Capital One, they asked for my account number and social security number which i did not give, when i reached an agent, they transfered me back to the automated system instead of to someone else who could tell me why they called. All my accounts with capital one are in good standing and i see no reason for them to be calling me.
I have received more than 11 calls from them today, all of which have been ignored, 3 within the last hour. Is this some scam or something? The comment from A FRIEND kinda freaked me, IS IT ID THEFT?
Folks: These people just phoned me...on Father's Day. Capital one (with whom I do have a account) will call me regardless of whether or not my account is due. But, my guess is that this IS NOT Capital One, but phishing for identity theft. This would explain the odd phone source numbers, and the referral back to automation.
Further, for a while I was getting calls from CO with an automated voice...and they had nothing to do with my account in particular.
I refuse to accept that I am a mindless pawn in finance...and will not tolerate or answer calls from such random numbers on the weekends...or midday on a Father's Day. How low will they go? It is almost amusing.
