Called today, ID Oxford, MA, left no message. Waiting to see if there is a call back.
Last numbers that called from Oxford were the infamous electric rate increase folks.
VERY INSIDIOUS Scam call. Picked up silently, but a recorded msg started immediately. Female voice gave a name that I didn't catch ("Mrs. Xxxx") & said she was **'with EVERSOURCE'** (our electric provider.) Said this was 'about your bill.' Gave a 413 area code callback # (that is OUR area code, but I also didn't catch the full number) AND gave a "Confirmation Code" to use when I called them. Said to call that ph# & have our bill handy when we did. I felt I knew it was spam, but it seemed so real that even I was a bit taken aback by it; it is easy to see how the sick and elderly might be taken in by this. I immediately called Eversource directly and confirmed they are NOT the source of these calls. These are likely third party Energy 'Providers', but telemarketing by them is ILLEGAL. Pretending to be EVERSOURCE is ILLEGAL. PRE-RECORDED MSGS are also ILLEGAL, as are spoofed phone numbers. I was told to report this to our Atty General in MA, which I did. They asked that I call the FTC in DC, as they are the main investigating agency in these matters. That will be my next step. 877-382-4357 (as provided by MA Atty Gen office.)
While I was on the phone with the MA Atty Gen'l office, I got ANOTHER spam call from 508-905-4014; our THIRD call this week from that #. That I *know* to be an Energy Scam # and it was already blocked! Also got a call this AM on another line from 413-304-3552 "Springfield, MA" which was a 'new' as yet unbloced # but one I also suspect is an Energy Scam call. Suspect ALL THREE are related, coming from the SAME CRIMINAL SOURCE.
Wish now I'd let it go to the answering machine so I could have a recording of this to turn over to the authorities.

EXACTLY THE SAME AS "NOT Scammed" above! They left a voicemail. The woman's (? automated) name was Mrs. Howard. The # to call them back on is 413-853-3890, which is licensed to Level 3 Communications, LLC, Mass. I also worry about the elderly, and unaware. These calls are coming in on my landline even though I am on every "Do Not Call" list (Whatever that does?). I very much appreciate your informative post "NOT Scammed", and the # for the Atty. General. I called about another # years ago. I've gotten 12 - 14 of these calls in past 3 days. That's WAY TOO MUCH. They call from one #, then an hour or two later another, then a third, fourth, fifth, etc. I sometimes keep them on the phone, playing stupid, so they don't have as much time to defraud someone else. But I just don't have as much time as these CRIMINALS do. I will be calling Atty. General. AGAIN. Smh....
