Called today, told me the same story; infected my a virus. I point blank told them, If I am effected and my computer is attacking other people, and you are here to protect me, where is the injured party?" I stumped them, they hung up. They are NOT the internet police, THEY ARE SCUM, FOR TRYING TO BAIT AND SWITCH YOU INTO FIXING YOUR PROBLEMS THEY CREATE and they cannot provide any proof or substantiate their claim or HOW THEY KNOW YOU ARE INFECTED. Its a plain jane scam. period.
Got a call from this number the other day. Looked it up, name and number matched, address in Attleboro, Mass. I have colleagues in Mass. so when a call came today I answered. I was "Harry" from "Microsoft." I said this number belongs to a Dennis in Massachusetts, and don't call me again. Reported it to Microsoft and the FTC. Blocked the number on my caller ID. Sad for the real Dennis.
This person has clled every day stating that he is with Microsoft customer services and that my PC has a serious virus. He asked for the serial number and said he could fix my PC without charge, I just needed to allow him access.
