The caller called himself john and said he was calling from a company called national chimney. He wanted to inspect my flue and clean my chimney. This man looks up callers names on a telephone directory and uses your name when first addressing you on the phone. Last year a similiar company went out to friends home and checked their flue. They told my friend they needed a chimney repair. The fact was that the chimney had been inspected by their furnace man less then a week before and since the visit by the chimney company and told my friend there was no needed repair.
