They called our office yesterday I explained to the man that they keep calling I wanted to speak with a supervisor and I was hung up on. I told him, and if this was a real company they would have passed me to the supervisor. Then I told him I have reported this number to the BBB and there will be a full investigation, I then said I hope your country is aware of the BBB.
Just another fraud call to verify business information for on-line yellow pages. Daily calls. Funny the numbers are different every day. So the FTC, (Federal Trade Commission), busted a group in June 09. But this will never stop. The FTC has good information on this type fraud. As a business, it is not an option to not answer calls you do not recognize. With cell phone use increased, we receive all types of area code calls. So the scammers just keep changing numbers and on into infinity. No end in site. They will continue as long as they keep getting money.
There has been a rash of hacked calls. The business listing update is a scam, and they are using VoIP to hack numbers...some disconnected, some not. SO....There is only ONE WAY to deal with these people to get them to remove your number. First, get a signal whistle (from any sporting good or outdoor outfitter store) and keep it by the phone. If you can manage to get them to talk, and they mention the business listing update (i.e you get positive ID it's the scammers, no matter what number they call from), blow their freaking eardrums out with that whistle. They are criminals, and need to be dealt with thusly. Criminals don't file complaints about having their eardrums blown out.
Just got a call from this number, same thing as everyone else. It seems like they change numbers almost daily so hopefully the poor guy's number that they're using now will end soon, then it will be on to the next one. The biggest problem is that the phone companies work with these scammers to charge your telephone bill for some fake service you didn't want or even change your long distance provider. Thankfully we have third party billing blocked on our account so even if they try to charge us without consent they can't.
