I just received a phone call on my cell phone, automated dialer with message that said I needed to call the number (509) 778-4319 back and this was the last attempt to reach me from the IRS. I obviously knew this was a scam because I have been audited by the IRS and they never call, just send letters and if you call them, well you are routed through numerous automated messages and finally after waiting an hour you might get to speak with and IRS agent. So just know that you can never get a quick and speedy pickup when you deal with the IRS. I called the number back because I hate it when people try to rip others off and immediately a foreign girl picked up, definitely kids in the background or a call center maybe, and she stated she was with the IRS and had my records pulled up in front of her - me being sarcastic asked what do my records say I made last year? and where was she calling from? Needless to say she hung up pretty quickly without ever responding to my question. God forbid you ask people questions, its amazing, they just hang up. I might call back later if I have time and play their game but record the whole thing and send it into the FTC and IRS. I get enjoyment out of things like that. No telling how much money they have scammed from innocent people.

Do consider getting a call blocking device or phone.. You can google them and many are around $40.00 or so.If its a cell phone, some already have call blocking, if not, there are free apps on the web that will work for some. You can google this. If you have a smart phone, there is a free app called call control. Iphones appear to have apps also. Another one is called Mr. Number.
Received an automated call saying that the IRS is investigating me and my property and I needed to call 509-201-4501. Knew it was a scam since the Gov would have a toll free number, but called. Took 4 rings to pick up and it sounded like there were children in the back ground
The caller had an accent; talked very quickly; I could hear a woman in the background also talking the same information to someone else on the phone. He said I would be arrested in one hour for tax fraud.
I got a message on my answering machine saying to call the irs at 5012074501 that i was being investigated for income tax and the irs was suing me. I called the number and a woman with an indian accent took the call and said she was an irs agent and gave me her badge no td619358 said i was on a recorded line and i that the irs had filed a case in court against me and that if i did not want to be arrested within 45 minutes of hanging up i had the option of paying the $ 8050 i owed the irs electronically and i told her i did not have the money and she said i could pay$ 900 to hold off the arrest untill i get the rest of the money
