called my boyfriends cell few days ago, then his moms home #... answered and its SCAM!!! utility bill past due and will be shut off within 12 hrs if we don't pay. Played along, acted panicked, and the male voice (NOT FOREIGN, SPOKE PERFECT ENGLISH) advised me to go to Walmart and either fill out money order or purchase prepaid visa card and RIP UP the proof of purchase because they don't want to risk anyone intercepting my payment. Guy said would cost $500 to have someone come out and turn our power back on hahahaha I feel so so terrible for people who actually fall for these SCAMS!!!! boyfriends mom did 8 months back when they called her job (gas station, so getting pumps shut off while owner was vacationing - she was dealing with both parents on their death bed and 2 hrs of sleep) and actually got her to do all this. I pray no one else falls for this particular scam If this does help you feel eased before falling for it, my energy has not been wasted writing this. Obviously these scammers obtained personal contact info via a linked account (shared cell phone/home phone package lines, internet or cable service provider, etc) because they called all 7 people in our family plan/unit.
