They literally just called 10 min ago. Even though my numbers on the do not call registry it's not phased them. I decided that I was going to play along, asked him if he could see that my computer was throwing error messages, could he tell me my device "name", not registration number. (having dealt with Microsoft a lot in the past) I hope people realize that "Windows" isn't going to call anyone, AND when dealing with computer issues 95% of the time you're dealing with Microsoft. So the guy asked me 6 times if I was handy with pencil and paper, then starts to give me what started as an "888" number, I stopped him, asked if he had seen the news where a lot of his people were arrested for phone scams like this one & what kind of idiot was he for doing it. He responded with calling me a "[***] lady" (LOL) and hung up. So I tried the number to see if it was a real or dummy number & it's a dummy number. I just hope people are finally smart enough not to fall for these scams anymore.
...just a couple of comments to pass along..
Item 1: this number came to my house phone...five rings and disconnected*
called back from cellphone: "...this number is not in service..."
item 2: I shut off the answering machine on the house phone in response to an idea that another poster on another number suggested: callers who trigger a recording* get a confirmation by the fact that "there is someone at this number -by the initiation of the recording machine-
... I have been keeping a caller log here at the house for several years to back check callers so let's see how this strategy plays out-this was caller event number one

First he called and was hard to understand. Then when I asked who he was, he told me to shut up. I've tried calling back a few times but it first just kept getting hung up on. Now it says the number is not in service. Scam?
Called me saying he is part of the windows and that my computer had a virus, they try and make you install a Trojan horse into your computer to control it!
