They are required to send you a dunning letter within 5 days of the first time they left a message or talked to you. Failure to do that is a violation of the law. That letter was supposed to also tell you what to do to verify that they have the legal right to collect the debt and that you do indeed owe it. That has to be done in writing and mailed to them. I would suggest you send it in some way that you can prove they got it.
They call me and my husband claiming that they are debit collectors from the company called Credence Resource Management, and I owe over $1000 for medical bill. All of them has heavy Indian accent and keep asking me all my info(name, address, birthday..etc) and constantly asked me when and how much I can pay. They said they prefer transfer from my checking account. WTH???
Calls from this number almost every single day. They always ask to confirm my name and address and do not give any other details until I confirm. I refuse to confirm and hang up.
I found out that this number always directs to the operator named Henry Woods( which I doubt it's his real name because of his heavy Indian accent.)
I still cannot tell if this is a scam or real debt collector because the medical bill that he is trying to collect from me is legit and I called hospital and confirmed that they use Credence Resorce management to collect their debt. Is there someone who actually paid to them?
