Called company asking for a name of an employee that no longer works for us. I had trouble understanding the second name she gave, so when I asked her to confirm the first name (it sounded like she was asking for Mr. Martha Dias....which is a rare name to be sure), she said she'd confirm her info and call back. We'll see.
Been getting a slew of telemarketing calls over the last week, all using my full name. This one From Texas (I have no dealings with that state).
I didn't wait to hear the gimmick.
I work at a college and get many calls asking for people who do not work here and I've never heard of before - they never know the department that this person works in. This is the scenario on calls received from many different numbers. This is the first time for this particular number. The caller was a woman, possible India accent. Said she would confirm the information and call back. I have wondered if they are somehow scamming companies/individuals for whatever information they can get. She mentioned a building that we have. But she didn't know the department - weird to me.
So look at 8882128916 for the similar comment, but I'll say the same thing.
Woman claiming from Texas Instruments calls to try to e-mail me a newsletter and I tell her I'm not interested.
Then she calls BACK after I had suspected that it was a scam, and I said that I have an account with TI (which is true). She tried to explain that she couldn't get my e-mail from THEIR database because it would be a security issue. At this point I realized it was a scam and I just kept her on the line for as long as possible. She gave up pretty quickly.
Looking at DD's comment, it may have been the same woman. Difficult accent, likely Indian.
Called our office twice within 2 minutes, but hung up before navigating our IVR. Caller ID listed the number and "HARTE HANKS INC" , which is an advertising company.
