I posted some furniture on Craiglist for $1000.00 and recieved a text from 513-204-9413 (Melissa) asking for my paypal email address and name. The party said they would credit my paypal account $1450 for payment and delivery, I would then need to wire the $450.00 to the "delivery agent" for pickup. I for one know paypal does not send emails addressing you by your email, they use your first and last name. So, when the scammers emailed me from a fraudulent "paypal" email address stating the incorrect name I gave them, I knew it was a scam! Also, I called paypal bc they can tell you if they have recieved payment and sent out corresponding mail to you. BE CAREFUL GUYS....THE SCAMMERS THINK THEY ARE SMART....

I had some furniture on craigslist for sell for $650.00. I got a text from 513-204-9413 interested in the furniture that I had listed. The person claimed to be "Melissa" and wanted to purchase the furniture I had. She obtained my email address for paypal purposes so I get a email showing $1240.00. $750 for me and $450 for "movers" Okay this seemed fairly legit so far. The whole conversation was via text so I asked her if I could call her to go over the details. She texts me and tells me she is deaf and has no one around to interpret. She was very persistent that I check my email and respond. I did just that the next day (today) It appeared to be a transaction with all the figures in place. HOWEVER - I was to take $550.00 to a western union location and the funds would be put right back into my account. This is when the red flag was raised. Why would me as a seller be putting money into a account of a person I don't even know? I called "Melissa" on her attempted scam and she never responded. What she does not know is I am a former deputy sheriff who is still very much involved in the police industry. I will be reporting this to the proper authorities as well as doing my own work to find out who is behind this scam operation. DO NOT SEND ANY MONEY TO ANYONE WHNE YOU ARE SELLING A ITEM. It didn't work this time but the next person may not be so lucky.
I got a similar text asking for my pay-pal account for an item I am selling on craigslist; she was going to send me $4500+ for an item she did not see. When I told her I will give you my account after she comes an inspected the item; she said she is too busy and she will send someone to pick the item after I send her my PayPal account. SURE!!! THIS IS A BIG SCAM.
I agree with the Former Deputy "DO NOT SEND ANY MONEY TO ANYONE WHEN YOU ARE SELLING AN ITEM" or send any personal information. As an IT support I advise you get a Google voice number and use it for selling stuff on the web, you can forward text and phone calls to your cell phone and they will not see your cell phone. You can also block number too.
