They say that they are a director for District Restitution Services but leave an 888 # to call for someone who doesn't even live at our address. They call several times a day every single day! ANNOYING!!!!
I Recieved a call at my job from this #. Thinking big time fraud. Woman identified herself as Investigator Edwards. Said they had filed civil suit against me for a debt from 10 yrs ago! Called courthouse there are no such charges against me. Tried 2 get me 4 700+ which is not even the amt. of the old debt! Scared me half 2 death until I really thought about it. Said the Sheriff would serve me papers and everything. Crazy part is they had very little personal info on me even had the county I lived in and assumed the debt in wrong.
This is not a legitimate company, it is simply a group of individuals who force people to pay for fictitious debts through what amounts to extortion and intimidation. It is very illegal for them to be threatening to take people to jail, court, etc. Their specialty is to call people at work and talk for a long time to force you to pay around $700-$1,000. People don't want their workplace to find out about the collection calls so they give in to the extortion. None of the money goes toward paying any debt, it simply goes straight into their pockets.
