Caller. " Hi I'm Joe, this call is on a recorded line, can you hear me ok. " With a slight foreign ( India ? ) accent. When I answered " I can hardly hear you" he hung up. Number does not seem to real.
Caller uses same name, Joe, but many different local numbers. Asks if I can hear him. He wants me to say "yes" so it can be recorded and used for scams. Anyone else reading this, please, whatever you do, don't say anything. Sometimes I used a high decibel whistle and blow it as hard as I can, lol. After I'm done, I always block the number.
I don't answer calls from numbers I don't recognise anymore. But when I did, a lot would try to pull that "Can you hear me okay?" trick and I knew better than to say "yes". Just saw a story about this very thing. What they do is record you saying "yes" and then can use that to sign you up for whatever they are selling. If you contest it, they say they have a recording of you giving your permission. So NEVER say "yes" if asked if you can hear a caller unless it is someone you know, a friend or family member. It will save you a lot of trouble!
