It's a scam! said they are from US Treasury. Told my mom they were ganna come arrest her since she owed back taxes which is totally not true. They wouldn't let us speak to a manager and hung up when we asked. Called back and same thing. We will be reporting them!
I just heard a message from "James". He had an Indian accent......said he was from the Dept. of Legal affairs. "He was sad to say there might be enforcement activity against me". I needed to call him back and he hoped I would do the right thing... He also told me to have a nice day...... I've had these calls before- I know they are scams and I blocked a whole series of numbers. This is a new number - caller ID says Cincinnati, Ohio. It saddens and sickens me to think that someone might actually call these people back......
Same thing here... Call from 513 442 3848. Caller identified himself as James Smith. Had a distinct Indian accent. I let the answering machine get it while I monitored the call. Said he was calling from the Department of Legal Affairs with US Treasury and that "an enforcement action has been opened against me" and that if for any reason I could not call them back "you should retain legal counsel to do it for you as any delay could result in a legal mess for you." So I picked up the phone and I asked if they had sent formal documentation to me in the mail. I asked what the case was for. I asked what the status of the case was. In all cases he said that I needed to call a number to get the information from the person handling the case. The number I was supposed to call is.... 513 442 3848, the same number he was calling from. Obviously I do not plan to call the number. Wonder what happens when you do. Possibly if you press a certain number it charges your phone bill? They are trying very hard to get you to call them.
JUST GOT A CALL THAT SAID THEY WERE FROM US DEPT OF TREASURY AND THAT SOMEONE WAS COMING TO ARREST ME. WHAT????? I AM AN 80 YEAR OLD MAN AND ALL I DO IS SIT IN MY HOUSE AND READ AND WATCH TV. THIS PERSON IS AN IDIOT. WELL I DID NOT GET SCARED I TOLD HIM I WAS CALLING THE FBI RIGHT NOW AND I GOT HIS NAME AND HAVE THE PHONE NUMBER BUT I DOUBT THAT THE CALL IS FROM OHIO, THESE PEOPLE ARE REALLY GETTING OUT OF HAND. I AM A RETIRED CPA. FIRST OF ALL IF YOU HAD A DEBT TO THE GOVERNMENT THEY WOULD FIRST SEND YOU A LETTER THEN THERE WOULD BE AN APPOINTMENT THEY DO NOT COME AND SERVE YOU WITH A WARRENT. THIS IS A SCAM TRYING TO GET MONEY FROM INNOCENT PEOPLE AND TO SCAR PEOPLE TO MAKE THEM PAY A DEBT
JUS.T GOT A CALL WITH SOMEONE NAMED JAMES AND THEY THREATENED ME WITH AN ARREST WARRENT. FROM THE US TREASURY. I TOLD HIM I DO NOT OWE ANY MONEY AND IF I DO SEND ME A BILL WITH FULL DETAILS AND I WILL HAVE MY ACCOUNTANT REVIEW IT . I ASKED WHAT COMPANY AND ISSUE IS THIS AND HE SAID HE DID NOT KNOW I ASKED TO SPEAK TO HIS SUPERVISOR AND HE HUNG UP ON ME. HE CALLED BACK AGAIN AND THIS TIME I IGNORED HIS CALL. SCAMMERS
