I received this call stating I was the person on record as an emergency contact for Vicki Lynn Massey. I have no idea who Vicki Lynn Massey is. Something about an investigation for the great state of Michigan?
Received a call today from William Blair stating he was from the Bank Fraud and Worthless Check division of Weinberg, Cochran, Coulsan and Irving. He said he was calling because of an ongoing investigation in the state of Indiana and that if I didn't come up with $1006 (in two hours) to pay for a payday loan from 2008 then I would most likely be going to jail. After a phone call to my local prosecutors office and another lawyer I was told this is crap. I also looked payday loan collection laws up and it states very clearly that it is a civil matter and they cannot file criminal charges against people who owe for a payday loan. DO NOT SEND MONEY TO THESE PEOPLE! My payday loan was for $350 and at first he tried to get $5000 out of me for legal fees, then when I told him I no longer am employed he brought it down to $1006. I will be filing a complaint with the fair debt people and I will only deal with the payday loan people directly.
