We are reaching out to you to notify you of a situation involving the fraudulent use of the McAfee TechMaster brand.
It has come to our attention that someone posing as a McAfee TechMaster representative has been reaching out to our customers to extort money from them. Our on-going investigation has shown that the fraudulent representative claimed the customer owed additional fees, requested remote access to the customer’s device, and in some cases asked the customer to log onto their banking site in order to process payment.
Please know, the only circumstance in which an authorized McAfee TechMaster representative would call you is to follow up on a support claim you previously initiated or an open interaction. In all other circumstances the customer initiates contact and in no circumstances would we ever ask for your banking information. If you are contacted by someone claiming to be a McAfee representative and you do not have an open support claim, please do not provide them any information. These people called my home at 6:00AM! They kept saying that my Internet was going to be turned off and that I needed to follow their insttuctions. My husband got on the phone and cussed them out.
