I recieved a letter saying that I had won second category sweepstakes and lottery drawing, and that I won $47,000.00. They sent me a check in the amount of $2,225.00 to cover gst (government service taxes). I called and the guys name is Richard Young at 514-465-5058 and he told me to deposit the check in any acount or debit card then to give it 24hrs.. to clear and to call him back so he could transfer me to a tax dept. to pay part of my taxes with that money and after they would send me the diference left from the $47,000.00. They really thing that people are that gulable, well some are but this needs to stop, I called a police officer in the town I live in and he told me they couldn't do anything. There has to be something that could be down. I feel bad for the elderly which i think could fall for this. The letter head has well fargo corporation in lower case letters from Niagara Falls, the check is from pacific power tech, llc (portland, or), wachovia bank of willmington, de

I work for Wells Fargo and I was the person who took your call earlier today. Our fraud department has this number listed on their fraudlent number watch list. Please shred the checks you received or any other checks you receive from these people.
I got that same letter. I got a check for $2451.44 I was so hoping it was real. I cashed the check and sent them the money through Western Union. They said to call back in 2 hours. At least they sent enough to cover it...it's not like I'm out any money!
I got the same type letter - will not cash or send it... I'd be willing to bet that wherever you cashed the check will get back to you saying that it bounced, and then you will be responsible for paying that money back... just a hunch! I'm shredding mine, as I did not enter any contest/lottery to win this amount...
I received today a letter from "Royal Bearing Inc" which did not sound to me like a survey company so I googled it with the entire address that was on the letter and behold the truth its a company that buys car parts!!! Nothing to do with surveys! The letter instructs me to send them 3,000 dollars thru western union with a check they endorsed and it also tells me to evaluate their service and fax the info to them. That's their way of so called "testing me" to see if I pass the training!! Last time I checked that's not training. It sucks because there are a lot of people who need money and fall for these things but please don't!!! Google everything you get its most likely to come up!!! The phone number on it was also 514-568-5058 and the guys name is RICHARD YOUNG or JULIE PHILLIPS.
