I received a call on Monday, June 18, 2012, from "attorney Mark Johnson" of Toronto. The story was the same as mentioned in other accounts for number 5149690777. A friend had an auto accident and had traces of alcohol from a cough medicine. His accomplis pretended to be a good friend of mine who had been in my state on a visit from the west. I think the scam originated from a picture of us which appeared on a school web site. I am not sure how they got my phone number, however. Fortunately, a checkbook error on my account caused the Western Union transfer to be delayed. Mark Johnson called back to get another transfer sent and I got suspicious and called my friend. Surprise, he was in Arizona and not in Toronto! So I closed the bank account and Western Union stopped the transfer from happening. His pickup accomplises were named Pat Boudry and Sonia Rahmani. They must have had illegal identification papers. I lucked out!
