My friend just rec'd a call from this # saying her grandson was in a Canadian jail - not guilty of the charge - but to release him she needed to send $2700 via Western Union to an address in the Dominican Republic.  She was assurred that she would get her money returned.  When she asked why Dom. Rep., she was told because it's an international incident when a U.S. citizen is arrested in Canada & it has to clear through their office in Dom. Rep.  She almost fell for it, then decided to call her grandson & he answered immediately from where he is living in the U.S.  She has reported it to the Sheriff & he told her to also report it to the attorney general of her state.  The deputy in the criminal division told her she was the third 'grandmother' this had happened to in their town, & the other 2 grands. did send the money & never got it back.
