They've called me almost everyday for the last year for a credit card I cancelled over 3 years ago. I answered their call once by accident because they started calling my parents home phone (it was on my bank file when I applied for the card years ago) and they told me that even though they purchased my debt it's still incurring interest and they tried to squeeze out an extra $1000+ from the original balance and told me I could pay it all now or in increments over the next 6 months but that this was a 1 time chance and I needed to give them a yes or no within the next 3 business days.
Thanks to everyone above for the heads up on debt collectors and Canadian debt laws because I've been saving up to call them and pay the full amount just to get them off my back. They do outsource to Peru, they're agents work from home and speak a little English.
Yeah, another scammer .... anyway, i never answer an unknown number, since it could validate it for other scammers! Best to ignore it always ! It pays not to be too curious ! CU later alligator !
