Received a call wanting to verify the business information for renewal of our ad in the Wyoming Business Guide. Told her we have never had an ad in the Wyoming Business Guide. I've never even heard of the publication. I told her no. I tried to find any information on the publication, and there's no information at all available. My suggestion would be to just tell them no and hang up. DO NOT verify anything.
I put her on hold and like 2 minutes later, she calls again. Now she said Universal Media for Alberta Guide. Told her my boss is busy and can take a message - no luck, Will call back tomorrow, lol!
Woman calls from 514-903-8370 and asks for a manager by name. I inform the manger is not available and offer to take a message. She asks if any other managers are available. I said no, and asked if I can help. She proceeds to try to verify the address. Then says that $500 invoice will be sent to the address for some publication. I said, "what publication. No, you cannot send an invoice for any publication. I do not have the authority to purchase any publication." She says, "oh, you don't. ok," and asks when someone who does will be in. I said I can take a message and pass it on. She said she will call back. She tried to sneak in an invoice... Now I'm wondering if she's actually going to send some bogus invoice.
