Again so much hogwash. .Ignore and block these calls. If you were the subject of a pending civil lawsuit, you'd have received a letter from the attorney for the other party. You'd have a paper trail.
Then, if a case was filed, you'd have received a summons delivered to you by someone licensed to serve process in your locality. You would NOT have first heard about any civil law case from some scammery-scummery debt collector who cold calls you and starts demanding money.
You can check this out yourself by simply going down to the local main civil court and checking the defendants civil list. The court clerks are usually glad to help and are familiar with these kinds of scams.
Report them:
http://www.consumer.ftc.gov/articles/0149-debt-collection (Threatening civil proceedings with no intent to follow through, or threatening criminal process in order to collect a civil debt is a violation of the Federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.) The same goes for endless telephone harassment
Also contact your local attorney general
If they continue to bother you, and you know you do not owe any money, tell them that you know this is a debt scam and that you are making a complaint to the police for extortion. Once you get a copy of the police report and they call you again , just read out the file number and the name of the PD or Sheriff’s office involved. Tell them you’ll be glad to send a copy to them at whatever address the jack***es are working out of now.
You'll probably have to yell at them and talk over them.
You have to get tuff with these people because, being akin to thugs, brute force is (metaphorically speaking), the only thing they understand.

I just ha do the same phone call happen to me, he said I would have a warrant issued for my arrest because there are 2 felony cases being issued against me for for a payday loan that I never applied for (nor have ever had a bank account to acquire such a loan) he got mad I wouldn't take his "settlement" offer of $742 so he is going forward and filing charges... Be my guest!!
David Maxwell told me I have two pending felony cases against me for a payday loan I never ever applied for or received. He called my mother and described himself as a detective which had my poor mother scared to death! When I called him back with his little case number he couldn't give me any information of who is pursuing these felony charges for check deception and defrauding a Financial institution but could offer me a settlement offer today of $742 but since I cannot pay I just have to wait til for a court summons or an officer to serve the warrant. REALLY? WTH IS WRONG WITH THESE PEOPLE, CAN THEY NOT FIND REAL JOBS!!!
Fake bill collector who threatened me over a non existent payday loan. Didn't even ask my name and told him to go ahead and send the cops. I then hung up and immediately blocked the number. And no cops showed up
