Got a call from a Chleo Bennett from Hunter and Knight about how I owe money from an online payday loan. Said I have until monday before I'm charge with check deception.
COMPLETELY fake company calling as "mediators" and leaving messages regarding lawsuit, etc. Clearly not worried about their allegations so of course, I set out to get to the bottom of this company and find out their m.o. by asking information so that my attorney or local police agency can be in touch with them. They would not give me their information - only the company name (which doesn't exist - do they not think people can easily hop online and look up info??), repeatedly asking for a case number or phone number. This company is so unreal that when I attempted multiple times to return the call and speak with a live person, they either hung up on me, yelled out over me so that I couldn't speak, or used cuss words....literally saying to me "You F- C-". Seriously? If I even had a smidgen of thought that this was a real company, that theory just got tossed out the window. Who speaks like that? Doing a google search, this number comes up as SCAMMERS attempting their usual. I feel sorry for anyone who would be silly enough to get taken by this nonsense. Reported to online fraud agency.
This number has called me twice today, once I answered and just the same mediator message. I hung up. Then a voicemail of the same message. I just now registered with the donotcall list, so hopefully they call me after 31 days.
