We received 3 calls from this today. Same thing, said I had to go to my computer. We answered the phone on the first call, hung up on him and he called back twice, but we did not answer.
This person or group keep calling to insist they refund money and need to get in my computer so they can return. I said I don't want it. They have used several phone numbers from various area codes. I try to ignore them.
These people called my dad and the caller id said US Cellular. The man said the Superior Tech company was going out of business and they wanted to refund my dad's payment. He had paid a company for computer help. the man said he had an online site to get the refund. The site was said get refund but it added weebly. com or something like that. I did not realize this would give him remote access to our computer. Bottom line: He was asking us to log in to our bank account while he was in the system and when I refused he locked the computer. Luckily, I had just backed up all files so I used Windows 10 to restore HD to factory default. Another ransomware scheme. Please share this with people you know so they don't make the same mistake I did.
Hmm a new version of the Microsoft scam? Bet the first thing they do after they get access to a computer is install syskey and ask for ransom money to fix it!
