I received a call recently but when I saw a previous comment that stated Sears, I knew it was for the order I had placed. I ordered from the Great Indoors, which apparently is a sister store of Sears. No collection call just wanted to verify that I had placed an order.
This is a telephone SCAM to get your personal ID information. The caller ID displays SEARS and the number 515-440-5000. I called Sears Security, and this numbr does NOT belong to them. If you receive a call, do not give out any personal information.
Female caller said she was callling from Sears Security to let me know someone had placed a layaway order on K-Mart.com using my name and credit card. She asked for my date of birth, which I would not give her. She then told me I should file a police report and fax it along with a photo ID to Sears Security Fax # 847-645-4005. Of course, then, she would have all the personal ID from me she needed. The FAX # has nothing to do with Sears Security either.
I called my credit card company. They had no record of any charges.
