Received a 24 second call, on my iPhone, at 9:57 pm, PST, from a male with a strong Indian accent. Claiming that he was from Microsoft (or calling on their behalf) it was unclear. He stated that he was calling for something to do with my computer. He abruptly stopped speaking as if waiting response. My response was "do you know what time it is" and the call disconnected.
Got the same call today. Accidentally answered it. Man with strong Indian accent addressing me by name and telling me there was a threat on my computer. I hung up immediately.
Just received a call from this number and caller ID showed as DIR ASST IA. Did not answer as did not recognize the number and no message left on machine. Can't be important or legitimate. What use is the Do Not Call registry?
Just got a call from Dir Assist IA asking if I was the main user of my computer and when I said no he offered to call back later tonight, i'm going to ignore him, and I suggest you do too.
Just got a call to my moms house from this number. The man had an accent. He asked my name, when it said it he knew my LAST name. I don't know how. I haven't been on my mothers computer in YEARS. He said he loved me and asked me to marry him. This may sound like a joke, but it is not. I really wonder who he was. He said he was calling about Windows XP.
Scammers claiming to be from Microsoft. The calls started 5/1/15, afternoon. 5/2/15 is in the morning, about 20-30mins
between each. All have a diff area code, with 555 prefix, & state. All say "DIR ASST (state)".
Scammers!!!! So far: 619-555-0147 CA, 515-555-0137 IA, 281-555-0116 TX & 763-555-0160 MN.
Wish we could report, but too many diff numbers. Sometimes if you c/b, you get the "cannot complete your call....."
Shoot 'em.
