I received a letter from the Iowa Dept. of Revenue telling me to phone them at the above number. At the other end of the number was a voice message. I left my name and cell phone #. Afterwards, I noticed that some of the digits on the zip codes do not match the zip codes on my 2014 tax info which I already had in my filing cabinet from my actual tax returns from back in April. Also, I noticed the letter does come with a pamphlet on "Your Rights During Audit, Billing... ...by the Iowa Department of Revenue" but nowhere on the letter was my social security number listed. The real Iowa Department of Revenue should already know what my social security number is. I suspect a scam is going on. Also, afterwards I checked online to see if the phone number matched any numbers at the actual http://phonebook.iowa.gov/agency.aspx#agency-R Iowa Department of Revenue; nothing matched.

Did you call or otherwise contact the REAL Iowa Dept. of Revenue to ask if the letter was legitimate?
