Caller said he was from Microsoft. (Foreign voice) Told me that Microsoft has become aware that my computer had been infected. He then told me he was going to help me get rid of the infected files. I told him where to go and slammed down the phone. This is something to stay away from at all costs. Hang up. In the first place, Microsoft does not monitor everyone's computers. That would be virtually impossible. A friend of mine believed the caller and then followed the callers instructions. Before long, they had control of his computer. They started accessing his files and the only way he could stop it was by powering off his computer. He powered on the computer the next morning and he was locked out of the computer. I ended up rebuilding the computer for him to remove all of their control. Please be alert, aware and block or refuse these calls. They could cost you more than a disabled computer.
