Received a call the other day from 754-444-3948 from Nicole Tarintino of the Law Offices of Thomas and Keane. This was regarding a payday loan. She made all the threats to issue a warrant for check fraud if I didn't pay right away. This is likely from a firm called Astro Tel in Broward County Fla. She said she would issue a warrant and gave me the 516-208-2876 to call back in an hour. Tried to check my phone and found out that the number has disappeared from my list. It is possible that the true number inadvertantly came up on my phone. This sounds like a boiler room operation.

1. Warrants are delivered WITHOUT warning. Threats are illegal!!
2. Check to see if that is really a law firm (illegal to claim if they are not).
3.IF they call again, DEMAND written validation of the supposed debt. Do not accept faxes, emails or phone calls - or the old "We mailed it but it came back".
4. Boiler room - possibly - but definitely sounds like scammer trying to extort money from you.
