Received call (which is now blocked) at 7:43pm. Comes up as unknown name. Normally I do not call back but since it is a number (supposedly) in my area code, decided to call using a blocked phone in the rare case it may be legitimate. Yeah, right! Reached recording thanking you for calling back about their "special promotion". No name of company given, of course and that all representatives are busy helping other customers and to leave a message. I did not, just hung up and made sure it was blocked.
Most likely, judging from the recording, it may be another illegal attempt to solicit money for "police" departments. I have noticed a few coming from area codes within the NY area. Just wanted to pass this on to others.
Called at 9:00pm, pretended to be from a "veteran's department", asked for donation. I hung up, had gotten several similar calls recently....for police, fire, reared police etc....all scams
