Received a call tonight from a guy with a very heavy foreign accent. Caller ID said Mike Drew and the above number. He said my computer had a virus. Asked me if I was in front of my computer, told him "no" and that I did not have a virus and hung up. I was not going to fall for that scam!

Had 2 calls this week from this number. One was a male, one was a female, both with heavy accents. I got the same speech about them being from Windows, and my computer was putting malicious files on the internet, and they would help me fix it. When I asked how they knew that it was my computer, they said it was registered to me when I bought it. I then told them that my computer wasn't bought, it was built and the software was not linked to my cell phone. They hung up.

I just received this call from a man with a think accent claiming he was from Microsoft and my computer was giving them "Error, Error, Warning, Warning" messages. Since I signed up for a similar type of service from HP a week ago when I bought my new computer, I listened thinking this might be real, but I also thought it might have been a prank call. I sat quietly listening, and once he asked me if I was near my computer, I asked "Is this a recording" and he didn't answer instead going, "Sir, Hello, Sir". I hung up immediately, and searched the number on Google and found out it was a scam, thankfully I hung up. I received a call earlier in the day from a "Fabian Aguilar" (323-265-9875), I answered but no one said anything so I hung up. Looks like that was a scam too.

Now I want to know, how did these people get my number all of a sudden?

I also received a call from 516-223-6529.  The caller had a very strong foreign accent, though he told me his name was Brian MacKenzie.  He told me my computer was sending error messages to Microsoft.  I asked him what kind of information did he have that led him to believe I owned a computer.  He was very surprised to think I didn't HAVE a computer.  I then asked him for a number where I could call him back.  He gave me the number 201-399-6208 which I found to be a company called Tech Wizard.  While I had him on the phone, I asked him why my caller ID said the call was coming from Mike Drew if his name was Brian.  He didn't know any Mike Drew.  I had been looking forward to receiving that call, because I wanted to engage him in conversation in an attempt to glean as much info from him as possible without giving him any info from my end.
